Madikeri : State Home Minister KJ George has said that
the state government was committed to bring the tribal people of Naxal
affected areas to the mainstream society by helping reach out government facilities to them.
Speaking
to reporters here, the home minister said the government has chalked
out several programmes to improve basic amenities to the tribal
people. Steps would be taken to make rules flexible so that government
amenities reach the tribals easily. Measures would be taken to also
offer self-employment training and educational aid to youth of tribal
hit areas.
He also warned Naxals against taking law into hands instead of settling issues through talks with the government. The government is ever ready to enter into talks with Naxals, he said and added caution has been maintained in the wake of Naxals being spotted even in Madikeri district.
The government was also committed to modernize the police department and equip it with latest gadgets, the home minister informed.
District Superintendent of Police MN Anucheth and several police officials were present.
